Since 2024, I’ve been exploring the lifecycle of clothing and the potential of discarded materials. This project started as a curiosity about garment construction, where I researched how clothing moves through the cycle of production, use, donation, and disposal. The information I learned was shocking.
- Basically all clothes are handmade
- Around 75% of donated clothing never makes it to the retail floor
- Billions of pounds of fabric are exported to low-income countries
- Recycled polyester production increases demand for single-use plastics
- Clothing is vital for our wellbeing
- … and so much more
This completely changed the way I was looking at fabric.
